In an official message, the monarch despatched her “warmest greetings” to commemorate the event. In a letter to the folks of Guernsey, the monarch wrote: “To my most loyal folks within the Island of Guernsey, I ship my warmest greetings on this the Seventy-Seventh Anniversary of your Liberation from enemy occupation.
“I used to be to be taught that this event will likely be commemorated and celebrated by folks of all ages, from schoolchildren to islanders and Armed Forces veterans who had been current on the Liberation, in addition to those that had been evacuated to the UK or deported to Europe. I’m delighted that The Earl and Countess of Wessex have the chance to symbolize me on this special occasion within the Island’s calendar.
She added: “In my Platinum Jubilee yr, I’m most grateful in your continued allegiance and loyalty.
“My ideas and prayers stay with you in your future happiness and the prosperity of your loved one island.”
In a letter to Jersey, she continued: “As you bear in mind the trials and hardship that the folks of Jersey endured through the occupation within the Second World Struggle, we’re reminded of the braveness and sacrifice of those that remained, those that had been deported or evacuated from the Island; and people who served within the Armed Forces.
She added: I recall my very own visits with fondness and pleasure, and also you all the time prolonged such a heat welcome.”

The Earl and Countess of Wessex are visiting the Channel Islands to commemorate the event.
They arrived in Jersey yesterday.
The anniversary celebrates liberation from Nazi occupation after German troops captured the islands on June 30, 1940.
They retained management of the territories till Could 9 1945.
Edward and Sophie’s go to may also carry the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations to the 170,499 folks residing on the seven inhabited islands.
Yesterday, the couple unveiled a Jubilee Sundial and met with those that survived the occupation in Jersey.
