4,500 litres of gasoline have spilt under a Charlottetown gas station

P.E.I.’s Division of Atmosphere has confirmed a spill of 4,500 litres of gasoline below a fuel station in Charlottetown.
Employees obtained a report of the spill on August 31 beneath the Mel’s Petro Canada fuel station on the nook of Belvedere and College Avenue.
In an e-mail to the SaltWire Community, Division of Atmosphere senior communications officer Jill Edwards stated the spill could have contaminated soil within the neighborhood, or maybe the groundwater desk.
Edwards added the spill bears “no danger” to consuming wells in Charlottetown as the town depends on a central water provide.
“The clear up could possibly be a protracted course of,” Edwards stated.
Edwards stated the province plans to herald consultants to help in cleanup of the spill.
