Zurich Insurance removes Z symbol after letter used to show support for Ukraine war

ZURICH (Reuters) – Zurich Insurance coverage has eliminated its Z brand from social media after the letter turned a logo of assist in Russia for Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine.
The corporate stated it was eradicating the emblem – a white Z on a blue background – as a result of it didn’t need to be misinterpreted as supporting Russia within the battle.
“We’re quickly eradicating the usage of the letter ‘Z’ from social channels the place it seems in isolation and may very well be misinterpreted,” the corporate informed Reuters in a press release.
“We’re monitoring the scenario intently and can take additional actions if and when required,” the corporate stated, following a report by The Telegraph newspaper in England.
The letter Z has been used as a marking on Russian army autos collaborating within the battle and has been adopted by Russians supporting the warfare, with it being distinguished on flags and at pro-Kremlin rallies.
Moscow has described its actions in Ukraine as a “particular army operation.”
Zurich Insurance coverage stated earlier this month that it was not taking up new home prospects in Russia and won’t renew present native enterprise.
