UK says alleged attacks on civilians in Ukraine must be investigated as war crimes
LONDON (Reuters) – Allegations of assaults towards civilians throughout Russia’s invasion of Ukraine have to be investigated as conflict crimes, Britain’s International Secretary Liz Truss mentioned, including that the UK would absolutely assist any such transfer by the Worldwide Prison Courtroom.
“As Russian troops are pressured into retreat, we’re seeing rising proof of appalling acts by the invading forces in cities equivalent to Irpin and Bucha,” Truss mentioned in a press release, referring to locations close to Kyiv.
“Their indiscriminate assaults towards harmless civilians throughout Russia’s unlawful and unjustified invasion of Ukraine have to be investigated as conflict crimes.”
Russia has beforehand denied targetting civilians and rejected allegations of conflict crimes in what it calls a “particular army operation” in Ukraine.
