Canadian government seeking proposals create quieter boat propellers

OTTAWA, Ont. — The federal authorities has issued a request for proposals to develop boat propellers that generate much less underwater noise than conventional propellers.

Minister of Transport Omar Alghabra mentioned propellers are essentially the most vital supply of noise generated by vessels, and decreasing that noise will cut back the affect on susceptible marine mammals.

Alghabra mentioned within the launch that the deadline for submissions is July 28, and tasks have to be accomplished by March 31, 2024.

Tasks shall be funded via Transport Canada’s Quiet Vessel Initiative.
