“Street View Road Trip” by Artist Alice Tye

Alice Tye (beforehand featured right here) is a London-based illustrator and painter, represented by Jelly. With a level in illustration from Camberwell Faculty of Artwork, Tye has exhibited throughout London and has labored for quite a few firms and publications, together with Moët Hennessy, Expedia, and The Guardian. “Cinema and structure have been enormous inspirations for my work since I started my profession,” she explains. “I usually use the visible language of movies in each my compositions in addition to my color palettes. I’m interested by exploring the connection between the world we see filtered by fashionable tradition and the fact of that world. My work can also be impressed by my travels, capturing my experiences of a spot or a journey; I’ve painted quite a few collection primarily based on journeys to the USA and Japan.”

Starting in Miami, and touring by the southern United States earlier than ending in Palm Desert, California, “Avenue View Street Journey” explores quite a lot of American landscapes by the lens of Google Avenue View. Depicting these scenes within the distorted perspective of the revolving digicam, Tye’s work are each vivid and detailed, but eerily nonetheless. She elaborates: “The streets are empty, a parked automobile sits exterior a motel, a single automobile follows within the distance. The work seize the long-lasting American tropes—the automobiles, the motels, the vast roads, but the scenes don’t really feel idealized or bombastic. They’re merely single moments captured in a (digital) journey.”
