Provincial government requiring environmental impact statement for Stephenville-Port au Port wind power and hydrogenation project

STEPHENVILLE, N.L. — Setting Minister Bernard Davis is asking for extra details about the environmental affect of a proposed project to build a 164-turbine onshore wind farm and hydrogen facility on the Port aux Port Peninsula.

Davis is requiring that proponent World Power GH2 submit an environmental affect assertion outlining extra info on the proposed mission’s results on the realm. That features info on the last location of proposed infrastructure and the affect on crops and wildlife.

An environmental evaluation committee made up of representatives of a number of provincial and federal departments has been appointed to offer scientific and technical recommendation to Davis.

The committee may even draft the rules that World Power GH2 should meet in making ready the affect assertion.

The general public can be invited to touch upon the draft tips when they’re launched.

If authorized, the wind farm is predicted to be operational in 2025.
