Hjerpe, Oregon St. beat Cal 3-1 in Pac-12 Tournament

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Cooper Hjerpe scattered 5 hits with 5 strikeouts and allowed only one run over 5 innings and No. 2 seed Oregon State beat California 3-1 on Thursday evening on the Pac-12 Match.

Sixth-seeded Cal, which had its seven-game win streak snapped, performs No. 3 seed UCLA in a loser-out sport Friday and the winner performs Oregon State (43-13) in Saturday’s semifinals.

Justin Boyd hit a two-out double excessive off the wall in left middle and Wade Meckler adopted with a triple after which scored when Garret Forrester lined a single up the center to provide Oregon State a 3-1 lead within the high of the fifth inning.

Reid Sebby threw simply 42 pitches and allowed only one hit with 5 strikeouts over 4 innings of scoreless reduction for Oregon State.

Hance Smith had two hits for the Golden Bears. Rodney Inexperienced Jr. and Cole Elvis every added a double.
