Flames’ Gaudreau named second star, Habs’ Caufield top rookie for March

NEW YORK — Calgary Flames left-wing Johnny Gaudreau was named the NHL’s second star for March, whereas Montreal Canadiens ahead Cole Caufield was named the month’s high rookie.
Gaudreau ranked second within the league with 26 factors (11 objectives, 15 assists) in March because the Flames posted a 9-4-3 file and constructed a five-point cushion atop the Pacific Division.
The 28-year-old had seven multi-point performances, highlighted by his first profession five-assist outing March 26 in opposition to Edmonton and his sixth profession hat trick March 10 versus Tampa Bay.
Nashville defenceman Roman Josi was named first star of the month with a league-high 24 assists and 28 factors and a plus-14 defensive ranking in 14 video games.
Florida goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky took third-star honours, going 7-0-0 with a 2.13 goals-against common, .924 save share and two shutouts in March.
Caufield led all rookies with seven objectives and 15 factors in 15 video games, virtually doubling his season factors whole.
The extremely touted 21-year-old struggled in the beginning of this season and had 18 factors (seven objectives, 11 assists) in 38 video games coming into the month.
