EU to ban three Russian state-owned broadcasters – von der Leyen

STRASBOURG (Reuters) – The European Union will ban three Russian state-owned broadcasters as a part of a sixth sanctions package deal over Moscow’s battle in Ukraine, the bloc’s chief govt stated on Wednesday.

“They won’t be allowed to distribute their content material anymore within the European Union, in no matter form or kind, be it on cable, by way of satellite tv for pc, on the web or by way of smartphone apps,” European Fee President Ursula von der Leyen advised EU lawmakers in Strasbourg.

She referred to as the TV channels “mouthpieces that amplify (Russian President Vladimir) Putin’s lies and propaganda aggressively”.

“We should always not give them a stage anymore to unfold these lies,” she added.
