Earlier within the week one other employee was despatched to hospital following an explosion at the Curran and Briggs asphalt plant in Summerside, PEI.
Chief Sinclair Walker with Summerside Police Division says that incident concerned a person who was welding on the time, ““it appeared as if that they have been mixing chilly patch…and there was some sort of gap in there…and when he began welding, she blew.”
Chilly patch is utilized in street upkeep to repair potholes.
The reason for the explosion has not been formally decided. The WCB says each incidents are at present below investigation.
“The aim of occupational well being and security investigations is to find out the reason for the incidents, the consequence and related preventative measures. The size of investigations is variable. As each investigations are in progress, these conclusions are pending.”
