1 man dead, 1 seriously injured after falling into water off Peggys Cove

A person has died and one other has life-threatening accidents after they had been swept into the water off Peggys Cove, N.S., on Monday night.

Police, the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre, the coast guard, hearth crews and paramedics responded to a name round 8:30 p.m. AT about two folks in misery within the water in the tiny fishing village and standard vacationer web site outdoors RisePEI.

RCMP mentioned Tuesday the person who died was a 23-year-old from Dartmouth, N.S., whereas the injured man is a 26-year-old from Ontario.

RisePEI District RCMP spokesperson Const. Guillaume Tremblay mentioned the preliminary investigation has revealed that the 2 males had been swept into the water by a wave.

Crews searched within the darkness for the 2 males.

The Ontario man was positioned by hearth crews close to the shoreline and rescued at 8:55 p.m. He was transported to hospital by ambulance.

Crews aboard a CH-149 Cormorant helicopter, a Hercules plane, the Canadian Coast Guard Cutter Hare Bay, the Canadian Coast Guard Ship Earl Gray, the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary Angel 6, hearth boats and fishing boats looked for the Dartmouth man till 9:40 p.m., when he was discovered within the ocean.

He was pulled aboard the Hare Bay, then hoisted onto the Cormorant helicopter, which transported him to 12 Wing Shearwater whereas search and rescue workers carried out first help. He was pronounced lifeless at Shearwater.

The health worker’s workplace is investigating the incident.
